![]() I'd like to know where the cutoff is from 'powered armor' to 'mini vehicle' I apologize if any of these questions are unclear or can be answered with the rule books (as I've tried to make sure that isn't the case), and I thank anyone who takes the time to leave an informative response. ![]() ![]() Since different Battle Armors are made for different roles and personal preference is a thing, there obviously isn't one right answer for these, so I'll ask instead: is there a Battle Armor that's famously underarmored or underarmed? Is Battle Armor too squishy to waste weight on heavily armoring, or can they be much more effective with the added survivability? If a Battle Armor isn't specifically designed for anti-infantry or ship boarding or something like that, what kind of damage should it be capable of doing to a Mech, or other Battle Armor? Is that a decent understanding of Battle Armor mp?Īrmor and weapons are another pretty big question. The faster armors make sense for scout units, but since (I think) Battle Armor is usually used to reinforce a specific position, most Battle Armors shouldn't be moving much, right? Assuming they can ride a mech or a vehicle to their position, any more than 1mp would be a waste of resources. It seems like a lot of Battle Armor has 1mp, but plenty have 2, 3, or more. Using Megameklab, I can look through a bunch of canon designs and I can play around with the equipment and weapons myself, but no amount of reading the rulebooks or toying with Megameklab can tell me if a layout is too slow, too low on damage, or what. Second, I want some help with understanding what good Battle Armor looks like. Do heavier Battle Armors require so much bulk that a pilot can't simply have their arms in the arms and their legs in the legs? Would it be feasible to have an Assault-class Battle Armor which falls on the Kishi side rather than the Marauder side? Is it just a quirk of the art that the cockpit-type seems to exist in the first place? the Kishi) and Battle Armor which is too large or wide for that to be feasible, and the pilot must be sitting inside some kind of cockpit in the torso (i.e. I know that protomechs and such exist at the heavy end of Battle Armor, but the specific division I'm thinking of is between Battle Armor where it seems like the arms and legs of the pilot are encased within the arms and legs of the mech (i.e. I'm trying to get a feeling for what an effective Battle Armor looks like what be usable and/or perform well in the tabletop game?įirst, a non-gameplay question: I'd like to know where the cutoff is from 'powered armor' to 'mini vehicle'. I understand that the Tech Manual has many of the gameplay details, but that's not the focus of my questions. I'm slowly expanding my understanding of Battletech, and now I'm looking at my first non-mech unit type: the Battle Armor.
